A LIST OF THE COUNTRIES OF AFRICA AND THEIR CAPITALS.

The continent of Africa has fifty-four(54) countries and is the second largest continent in the world. Africa covers about 6% of the world's total surface(including area occupied by water) and about 20% of the world's land surface. The continent of Africa is also the second most populous continent in the world, with a population of about 1.4 billion people. Asia is the only continent with larger population than Africa.
In Africa, Algeria is the largest country by landmass while Nigeria is the largest by population.
It should be noted also that the continent of Africa is divided into five(5) regions namely, East Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, Southern Africa and North Africa.

Note- South Africa as shown above has three(3) capitals, Pretoria as the seat of the President, Bloemfontein as the seat of the Judiciary and Cape Town as the seat of the Legislative.
*In Benin Republic, Porto-Novo is the official capital while Cotonou is the seat of government and the judiciary.
*Burundi has Gitega as the official capital while  Bujumbura is the seat of the national executive.
*Côte d'Ivoire has Yamoussoukro as the official capital while Abidjan is the seat of government.
*Eswatini, which was known formerly as Swaziland has Mbabane as the administrative capital while Lobamba is the legislative capital and seat of the king.
*Tanzania as well is recorded as having two(2) capitals, Dodoma and Dar es Salaam.
